MARCH 2020

The ECC Subbasin Prop 68 application was successful. DWR will be sending Award Notification letters this month and final contracts will be signed in the next few months.

SEPTEMBER 2019

On behalf of all Groundwater Sustainability Agencies and interested parties in the East Contra Costa Subbasin, the City of Brentwood will be submitting an application for a DWR Proposition 68 Sustainable Groundwater Management Planning grant due November 1, 2019.  Grant awards are anticipated in March 2020.  See below for link to DWR’s grant website.

MAY 2019

DWR released draft Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP) for Round 3 of Planning Grants (Proposition 68) with $46.25 million available.  East Contra Costa is eligible to apply for additional groundwater plan funding from this grant. APRIL 2019

DWR’s East Contra Costa Subbasin draft re-prioritization was announced on April 30, 2019 (remaining the same as Medium Priority) and is expected to be finalized in summer 2019.  The Prop 1 grant agreement was amended and finalized on April 4, 2019.

FEBRUARY 2019

The Basin Boundary Modification Request to split the Tracy Subbasin was successful and two new subbasins were created (East Contra Costa and the Tracy Subbasins). 

DECEMBER 2018

The Prop 1 grant contract was executed to provide funds of over $500,000 to the East Contra Costa Subbasin for development of a Groundwater Sustainability Plan.

November 2018

Your local Groundwater Sustainability Agencies surveyed interested parties and other stakeholders to learn more about your thoughts on groundwater sustainability planning. The results are located here.

September 2018

Thanks to the support of at least 75% of the local agencies and water systems in Contra Costa and San Joaquin Counties, the Department of Water Resources has received as complete our Basin Boundary Modification request to subdivide the Tracy subbasin along the Contra Costa and San Joaquin County lines. A final determination is expected in February 2019.

December 2017

In November 2017, the City of Brentwood submitted an application for Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) and Projects on behalf of the MOU Member Agencies and San Joaquin County. The Sustainable Groundwater Planning (SGWP) Grant Program being administered by DWR uses funds authorized by Proposition 1, to encourage sustainable management of groundwater resources that support Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). More information on the program can be found here.
